Compelling research:

Shawn Achor is a positive psychologist whose research shows that success in the workplace is influenced more by soft skills than it is by IQ. The soft skills in question are positivity levels, social support and an ability to see stress as a challenge and not a threat.

Here’s Sean’s very interesting TED talk

Body:

Try a technique called habit stacking to increase your movement. Simply take a habit you do on a daily basis (e.g. boiling the kettle) and while you are waiting, do an exercise like squats – push ups or lunges

Mind:

“How does this help me?” – the next time you notice you are berating yourself for a mistake made in the past, catch yourself on  and ask that question. You will soon realise that being a friend to yourself in the spirit of self-compassion is a much more helpful way to be present and move forward with confidence. 

Soul:

A definition of soul which I like is the imprint we want to contribute to the world through our interactions with people and nature.

In this spirit, try to identify an opportunity this week to embrace nature or contribute to its wellness e.g. instead of taking the car to training, try cycling instead. Or maybe you could savour a moment during a walk through the park to smell a flower.

He had issues with alcohol and depression in the past. Running helped him to get a much needed positive and healthy structure in his life to get him back on track.
